Some European countries prohibit imports of fresh vegetables - To discuss this killer cucumber crisis, Consumer Affairs Minister Ilse Aigner hold an emergency meeting with Health Minister Daniel Bahr and regional government representatives. Similarly, as reported by AFP news agency on Tuesday (05/31/2011).  As many as 14 people in Germany were reported killed by consuming imported cucumbers. Cucumbers are reported toxic and found the bacteria in it.  As a result of this crisis, the Belgian government and Russia has banned imports of vegetables from Spain, which is believed to be the source of most dangerous cucumber.

Death cucumber crisis began more than two weeks ago when the first cases were reported in northern Germany. Until now the number of confirmed and suspected cases had reached 1,200.

Last week, German authorities warned people not to eat raw vegetables. The warning was issued after the discovery of bacteria on organic cucumber imported from Spain.

But even so, German officials claimed not sure will cause a sudden outbreak of E. coli it. Bacteria that can cause severe diarrhea accompanied by blood and serious liver damage and kidney failure and even lead to death.

E.coli outbreak has also hit other countries like Britain, Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands. However, most cases appear to involve people who not long ago from or going to Germany.
